Embassy of Armenia to the United States of America has responded to pro-Azerbaijani article in the New York Times
The Embassies of Armenia and Azerbaijan to the United States of America have responded to article by famous hired lobbyist of the Azerbaijani government, Professor of the Haifa University of Israel, researcher at the University of Georgetown Brenda Shaffer ?s article in The New York Times.
As reported by “ArmenPress”, both sides have sent their replies to the newspaper edition.
In her letter, press speaker of the Embassy of Armenia to the USA Anna Naghdalyan has mentioned that the intermediary format for the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement led by the U.S., Russia and France is targeted at a peaceful settlement of the conflict. “The presidents of these countries have expressed their positions in five consecutive statements. The meetings in Russia in August, in Wales in September and the upcoming meeting in France in October are the manifestations of such joint efforts. The peacekeeping mission has been an inseparable part of the negotiations process and has never been viewed separately. The latest violations of the ceasefire regime were committed by Azerbaijan, which rejects the mediators’ proposal to conduct an investigation into the ceasefire violations for the conflict settlement. Thus, Azerbaijan is responsible for intensification of the situation,” Naghdalyan wrote in her letter.
The author of the reply from the Azerbaijani side is Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to the United States of America Elin Suleymanov, who almost completely agrees with the author of the article and only demands presenting Armenia as an “aggressor”. Suleymanov also calls on Brenda Shaffer to not compare Armenia and Azerbaijan since “one of them is an aggressor, and the other is the victim”. Azerbaijan’s Ambassador suggests the dislocation of Armenia’s armed forces from the territory of the NKR as the best way to settle the conflict.
