Created by the decree of the RA President, the Commission is organizing a series of major events that will be held before and during the year of 2015.

“I have three songs dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide. I have composed a concerto for the viola and the orchestra entitled “Three Arias to sing from the window looking toward Ararat”. I have also composed a Concerto for the Cello entitled “Where is your brother Abel?” In addition, I have also composed a Requiem upon the request of a German company,” Mansuryan mentioned in his interview with “ArmenPress”.

According to the renowned composer, these three works are part of one concert. “I will suggest that the State Commission in charge of Coordinating the Events Dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide organize a concert featuring those songs. As a matter of fact, out of all the works, the Concerto for the Cello has not been performed in Armenia yet,” the composer added.

Tigran Mansuryan was born on January 27, 1939 in Beirut. He repatriated to the Artik region of Armenia and settled with his family. Mansuryan’s chamber and instrumental songs have been performed several times in Armenia, at the cultural centers of the Soviet Union and abroad and have been praised for their exceptionality and thanks to the revelation of new spheres. Mansuryan, who skillfully masters and widely uses the latest resources, was the first to introduce modern techniques of composing in Armenia.
