“Aghbyur” Choir performed at Narekatsi Art Center
On August 7, Batumi “Aghbyur” Choir from Georgia performed a concert at Narekatsi Art Center in scope of “My Armenia” Festival.
In the beginning of the concert, the Artistic Director of choir Fr. Ararat Gumbalyan Priest addressed his greeting speech to the audience and briefed on the history of creation of the choir.
“Our choir has begun its activity since 2009. It was a youth choir. Not only have we performed concerts in Batumi, but also in Tbilisi and Javakhk. Being in the Homeland, made us feel as true Armenians. Everything is very warm and tender here” – said Fr. Ararat. He also noticed that, while being in the Homeland, his pupils had somehow changed and would perform the songs more knowingly.
After Lord’s Prayer, the concert began.
The choir performed the works by Komitas, Sayat-Nova, Arno Babajanian, etc. They were singing with great enthusiasm and love. The concert was concluded by Charl Aznavour’s “Armenia” song.
Choirmaster Rusanna Ovanesyan also thanked the audience for being present at the concert and appreciating their activity.
Fr. Ararat thanked the Ministry of Diaspora for warm hospitality and for being helpful in all aspects, and expressed hope that next year also they would participate in “My Armenia” Festival.
