Perhaps a few know that whimsical Hollywood celebrities trust our compatriot Silva Chakmakchian in the making of their stage costumes.

Having studied banking management, about 40 years ago Silva quitted her professional job, without any doubt, and was engaged in thefashion business. Her diligence yielded the positive results – Silva founded her own dress-making and tailoring establishment and everything started therefrom.

Currently Silva Chakmakchyan is the founder of Silvias Costumes brand in Los Angeles. Here many American Armenians are employed, and the Armenian mainly dominates here.

″First of all, I am hiring the Armenians, because they have peculiar skills and thanks to them my studio has such a stand in the United states″- tells Silva Chakmakchyan.

In her words, they do not have any work schedule; should they have an order, they may work day and night like one person, and this is the earnest of the success of Silvias Costumes.

The success of the brand is not only in words. It would suffice to state that among her permanentcustomers are such celebrities, like Janet Jackson, Cher, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry, Ariana Grande, Diana Ross, Dolly Parton, and everything becomes more than clear.

″We feel very much relaxed when working with these people; they are coming to our studio, giving an order, then we become friends, dance, have a good time, then they take their dress and go″- tells she.

Silva Chakmakchyan is not only a successful businesswoman, she is also a benefactress, though she prefers not to talk about this.

“When I am doing a good deed for or helping  someone, only two of us know about it, and that’s it; this is the principle of my life”-stresses Mrs. Chakmakchian.

As a businesswoman, our compatriot has been granted various awards, including one from the US President Barack Obama.

She was awarded“Cilician Knight” Medal of the Order byCatholicos Aram I for the donations addressed to the Armenians throughout the world and particularly, the Homeland, through “Garni” Organization founded by her.

The Ministry of Diaspora also cooperates with Silva Chakmakchian. She is implementing valuable programs for the Syrian Armenians, particularly in Armenia. See below the greeting by the RA Ministry of Diaspora on the occasion of Silva Chakmakchyan being awarded another order.

Your personality is well-known not only to your friends, but also the Los Angeles Armenian community and the Homeland.
