Uruguayan Ruben Aprahamian Erganian became the RA Citizen

On July 25, the RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan granted the passport of the citizen of the Republic of Armenia to the RA Honorary Consul in Uruguay, Representative of the Armenia Community in Uruguay Ruben Aprahamian Erganian, who, by virtue of the RA President’s Decree, became the Citizen of the Republic of Armenia.

Ruben Aprahamian Erganian read the text of the oath, after which Minister Hranush Hakobyan granted him the passport.

 Minister Hranush Hakobyan rated high the activity of the prominent Diaspora Armenian in the Armenian Community of Uruguay, who is also actively involved in the public life of the country. In view of being engaged in charity and public activities in Diaspora, special services in preservation of the Armenian identity and strengthening sound links between the Republic of Armenia and the Diaspora, Ruben Aprahamian Erganian was awarded with ″Pogos Nubar″ Medal of the RA Ministry of Diaspora.

Ruben Aprahamian Erganian was born in Uruguay. From an age of 15 he has been involved in the activities of Armenian organizations in Uruguay, particularly the Armenian Students’ Union, and engaged in entrepreneurship and charity. During the disastrous earthquake in 1988, he provided financial assistance to his Homeland. From 2009 to present he has been the RA Honorary Consul in Uruguay.

Minister Hranush Hakobyan mentioned with great pleasure about her visit to Uruguay on the delegation of the President of the Republic and being warmly received by the Armenian community.

Ruben Aprahamian Erganian thanked for the high appreciation and stressed that it is an honor for him to be an Armenian and putting forth efforts aiming at preservation of the Armenian identity outside the Homeland. As stated by him, “One born as an Armenian should die as an Armenian”.
