Month of Artsakh to be declared in October

The Armenian National Committee of Europe will declare this October as the Month of Artsakh in Europe. The ANC of Europe will be holding different events and exhibitions in association with the Armenian National Committees of Belgium, Holland, France and Germany, as well as with the Representation of Artsakh, reports the ARF-D Armenian National Committee of Europe to “ArmenPress”.

Throughout the month, artists and intellectuals from Armenia, Artsakh and other countries will attend book presentations, as well as exhibitions and film screenings. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the ceasefire of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the Armenian National Committee of Europe and the ANC Regional Committees will let political circles and the international community know that the Artsakh Republic is now a well-established and creating state and that the parties offering solutions to the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh must take that into consideration.

On 2 September 1991, the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic was declared independent in the former ARMK and Shahumyan region during the joint sitting of the regional councils of People’s Deputies of Nagorno-Karabakh and Shahumyan.

On 10 December 1991, just days before the official collapse of the Soviet Union, Nagorno-Karabakh held a referendum during which the majority of the population (99.89%) voted for full independence from Azerbaijan. The Artsakh Republic has representations in Armenia, France, Germany, Russia, the United States of America, Australia and countries in the Near East.
