Kessab-Armenians returning to their homes

Perio News reports that on June 16, governor of Latakia Ahmed Sheikh Abdulghader visited Kessab to become familiar with the situation in the town. The governor met with the residents, consoled them and gave the infrastructure restoration groups instructions.

Hundreds of residents of Kessab have already returned to their homes that have been robbed and are half-ruined.

The army is already demining the area and exploding all the dangerous arms and ammunition. The infrastructure restoration groups are already in Kessab to restore electricity, water, telephone lines and channels in preparation for the residents’ return to Kessab.

The extremists burned the churches, stores and schools before leaving Kessab. The cultural center of the Armenian Evangelical Community located in central Kessab has suffered severe damage and has collapsed. A soldier died under the ruins. Let us add that prior to their leave the terrorist groups robbed mechanical devices, particularly machinery for agriculture.

The Syrian army has reinforced its positions on the strategic peaks near Kessab.
