Media school for Syrian-Armenian children

The Center for Media Initiatives (formerly Internews) is setting up a Summer Media School for Syrian-Armenian schoolchildren in Armenia.

The participants of the program will be introduced to the basics of journalism and will learn how to write stories by using media tools. They will also learn critical thinking and analysis of information sent from different media outlets.

The program will be carried out at the Center for Media Initiatives in Yerevan on July 1-5, 2014.

The program is open to schoolchildren who are between the ages of 14 and 18 and are interested in journalism and media education.

To participate, applicants must apply before June 25, 2014.

The interactive lessons will be held once a week from 11:00 to 17:00 and will be based on practice. The participants will be provided with necessary equipment, including computers, small cameras, software and more.

Participation is free. The language of the lessons and communication is Armenian. The participants will also be able to speak in Western Armenian or a foreign language during hands-on activities.

Based on applications, 15 participants will be selected for an interview.
