RA Ministry of Diaspora and “Howard Karagyozyan” Medical Benevolent Non-Governmental Organization to expand cooperation

On June 3, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan received General Managing Director of the “Howard Karagyozyan” Medical Benevolent Non-Governmental Organization Irina Lazaryan and Director of the “Howard Karagyozyan” Medical Benevolent Non-Governmental Organization in Armenia Avetik Harutyunyants.

The Organization actively carries out its activities in Lebanon, Syria, several countries across Europe and in Artsakh and has chapters in different regions of Armenia.

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues on the social, healthcare and other programs for Diaspora Armenians in Armenia, Artsakh and abroad. The Organization plans to provide healthcare and social assistance to Syrian-Armenian families and children who have moved to Armenia as a result of the civil war in Syria, particularly with the purpose of treating patients who have problems with eyesight and hearing.

Minister Hranush Hakobyan presented the issues related to housing and reimbursements for rent and attached special importance to the Organization’s support to the solution to the urgent issues facing the Syrian-Armenians in dire conditions. The guests were also introduced to the “New Aleppo” housing project.

The sides discussed issues on the signing of a Memorandum of Partnership between the RA Ministry of Diaspora and the “Howard Karagyozyan” Medical Benevolent Non-Governmental Organization for the implementation of social and healthcare projects and support to vulnerable groups. They also indicated the new approaches for cooperation and specified the future actions.
