Nerses Nersessian granted passport of the Republic of Armenia

On May 29, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan granted the passport of the Republic of Armenia to Chairman of the Armenian Athletic Union of Amman Nerses Nersessian, who recently acquired Armenian citizenship.
By the permission of the President of the Republic of Armenia, the right to grant passports of the Republic of Armenia to renowned Diaspora Armenian figures is reserved to the Ministry of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia.
Nerses Nersessian solemnly read the text of the oath, and Minister Hranush Hakobyan granted him the passport of the Republic of Armenia. The minister praised the Diaspora Armenian’s contributions to the preservation and advancement of the Armenian community in Jordan and congratulated him on becoming a citizen of the Republic of Armenia. Nerses Nersessian expressed gratitude to the RA Ministry of Diaspora for the ongoing cooperation and for solemnly granting him the passport of the Republic of Armenia.
On the occasion of Republic Day (May 28), by the decree of the RA President, Nerses Nersessian was granted the Mkhitar Gosh Medal for his contributions to the development of the Homeland-Diaspora relations and preservation of the Armenian identity.
Nerses Nersessian was born in Jerusalem, graduated from the Holy Translators’ Secondary School of Jerusalem and has been a member of the board of the Armenian Youth Association of Jerusalem. Currently, Nerses Nersessian is Chairman of the Vahan Tekeyan Club of the Armenian Democratic Liberal Party (Ramgavar) in Amman, a member of the National Council of Amman, general secretary of the Council and the Armenian Prelacy, as well as chairman of the Armenian Athletic Union. He has also been a member of the sports committees of associations in Jordan.
Currently, Nerses Nersessian is the chairman of the joint committee coordinating the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in Jordan and participated in the May 26 reunion-meeting in Yerevan with representatives of the regional committees in charge of coordinating the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
