President of Uruguay to talk about Armenian Genocide recognition with Obama

Armenian organizations of Uruguay have asked the President of Uruguay to present the issue of Armenian Genocide recognition to the U.S. President.
U.S. President Barack Obama will receive President of Uruguay José Mujica at the White House on 12 May. The committee of Armenian organizations preparing for the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide has addressed a letter to President Mujica, wishing him success during the official visit to the United States and asking him to present Uruguay’s clear position on the Armenian Genocide. The committee has also stated that an Armenian Genocide State Museum will be opened in Uruguay.
The letter is signed by representatives of all Armenian Churches of Uruguay, as well as all political parties and almost all Armenian organizations.
The presidential palace has informed that José Mujica agrees with the content in the letter and has pledged to talk to the U.S. President about this.
In 2010, the President of Uruguay personally opened the cross-stone in memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide that was brought from Armenia.
