Armenian Genocide Commemoration events in Barcelona

The series of events dedicated to the 99th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in Spain ended in Barcelona on Apr. 26. In the evening, Vicar of the Patriarchal Delegate to Spain and Portugal, Father, Archimandrite Sasun Zmrukhtyan performed a Divine Liturgy and Requiem Mass in memory of the victims of the Armenia Genocide in front of the local Armenians, officials representing the state of Cataluña, public figures and clergymen at the Mar de Deu de Los Angeles Church. Pastor of the Mar de Deu de Los Angeles Church, Rector Don Rafael Mendez and spiritual father, Dr. Armand Puig participated in the ceremony with an ecumenical prayer. Puig, who is the Dean of the Faculty of Theology at the University of Cataluña, also delivered a lecture devoted to the 99th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
Among other speakers were president of the parish council of the Armenian Church Grigor Maghakyan, RA Charge d’Affaires in Spain Khoren Terteryan and former member of the Parliament of the State of Cataluña, Deputy Director of the Emigration Department of the State, Mrs. Ana Rosa Fortuni. The event ended with a concert organized by the local community. At the church hall, singers Hasmik Isahakyan, Shushan Hovhannisya, organ music player Narine Kulikyan and violinist Tatevik Khachatryan performed the works of Komitas, reports the RA MFA press office to “Hayern Aysor”.
