Event dedicated to the 99th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide held in Washington

As reported by the RA MFA press office to “Hayern Aysor”, religious leaders of the Armenian Apostolic Churches of Washington, as well as representatives of Armenian American community organizations and the Armenian communities of Washington and the adjacent states participated in a commemoration ceremony dedicated to the 99th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide near a cross-stone placed at the Embassy of Armenia to the United States of America.
The members of the Armenian community organizations laid wreaths at the monument, after which the religious leaders of the St. Mary Armenian Apostolic Church and the Holy Cross Armenian Apostolic Church of Washington performed a Requiem Mass in memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide under the direction of representative of the U.S. Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, Archbishop Viken Haigazian.
In his speech addressed to the participants of the event, RA Ambassador to the United States of America Tatul Margaryan praised the efforts for recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide and underlined the fact that only through consistent efforts will it be possible to break Turkey’s wall of denial and silence.
