Construction planning for the New Aleppo district for Syrian-Armenians is already in the final stage. The final specifications are being made. This is what Chief of Staff of the RA Ministry of Diaspora Firdus Zakaryan said in an interview with “ArmenPress”. According to Zakaryan, discussions on the launch of construction are scheduled to take place soon. “Construction of the New Aleppo district requires 20,000,000 dollars, but there still isn’t enough money to launch construction,” said Zakaryan.
The ministry’s chief of staff mentioned that there are currently 11,000 Syrian-Armenians living in Armenia and that 650 families have requested homes.
Construction of the New Aleppo district will help solve the housing issues facing 488 Syrian-Armenian families. The district will be located in Ashtarak city (near the Ashtarak-Etchmiadzin highway) and will be composed of an apartment building and a club that will serve for holding cultural and health-related events. The residential complex will include a swimming pool, a gym, tennis and basketball courts, a kindergarten and, if necessary-a school. There will be closed underground parking lots where residents will be able to climb up to their apartments.
