Hranush Hakobyan: “The recent news from Syria is troubling”
“Unfortunately, the recent news from Syria is troubling. We receive bad news every day,” RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan announced today in response to a question from deputy of the faction of the Republican Party of Armenia Tatchat Vardapetyan at the National Assembly, reports panorama.am.
According to Hranush Hakobyan, the Syrian army is progressing and seizing certain villages and residences, but at the same time, the Kurdish movement has gained momentum, and terrorists continue to bomb various residences.
“The Armenian New Village District of Aleppo has recently become a target. The bombing that took place last week killed four people, including a mother and son, an elderly woman and a 14-year-old. Nevertheless, our emergency unit, diplomatic structures and religious organizations are working very actively. Fifteen Armenian schools are still operating. There are churches, and the Armenians are trying to organize life in the community,” Hranush Hakobyan said.
Hranush Hakobyan also mentioned that the Syrian-Armenians leaving for Europe are very active in the local Armenian communities. For instance, the local Armenian community of Sweden recently built a church after not having been able to have a church for years. “The Syrian-Armenians settled there and built a church after one-and-a-half years.”
