On Mar. 27, U.S. Congressman Adam Schiff issued a statement condemning the attack on Kessab by soldiers linked to Qaeda in which it was stated:
“The brutal attacks against Armenian and other Christian civilians of Kessab by terrorists linked to Qaeda are atrocious. These attacks which came from Turkey go to show the level of instability in Syria. We are in contact with U.S. State Department officials, who assure us that they are talking to Armenian, Syrian and Turk officials to clarify the details regarding the latest events and to prevent such attacks from happening again.
The Syrian civil war is a catastrophe for the entire population of Syria, particularly the ethnic minorities. We are working on all fronts to provide humanitarian assistance to the Syrian Christians.
