April is the month for replenishing Armenian Wikipedia with materials devoted to the Armenian Genocide
The Wikmedia Armenia organization is declaring April as the month for replenishing the Armenian Wikipedia with materials devoted to the Armenian Cause and the Armenian Genocide. This is what member of the board of Wikimedia Armenia NGO Mher Bekaryan said during a press conference. “Every month, we set aside topics that spark interest among editors. We addressed the Armenian Genocide and the Armenian Cause since next year marks the 100th anniversary of the Armenian massacres and it would be preferable to have articles devoted to all the major issues a year before the anniversary. Later, we’ll improve quality in the following year,” said Mher Bekaryan.
According to him, it’s important to have such articles so that those editing in different languages use those articles. “With this, we’ll ensure the presence of pro-Armenian and objective facts on the Internet,” said Mher Bekaryan.
Established in May 2013, Wikimedia Armenia is a non-commercial organization and a branch of Wikimedia Foundation in Armenia with the purpose of promoting the dissemination and development of wiki-projects in Armenia and in the region and popularize the idea of free knowledge. There are more than 115,000 articles on Armenian Wikipedia.
