RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan congratulates Greece’s Azad Or Daily on its 70th anniversary
Dear members of the editorial staff of Azad Or Daily,
Dear Hripsime Harutiounian,
I cordially congratulate the entire staff, the Greek-Armenian community and all Armenians on the 70th anniversary of Azad Or Daily.
Undergoing the hardships that the staffs of all Armenian newspapers face abroad, for 70 consecutive years, the newspaper has preserved the spirit of Armenians and has contributed to the Armenian upbringing of dozens of generations within the Greek-Armenian community.
The daily’s Notebook section always features extensive analyses on highly distinguished Armenian writers, as well as public, political and cultural figures. The section serves as a unique calendar to present notable Armenians and is set aside with the issues that are raised and the valuable observations of notable Armenians, as well as the ideology of the newspaper staff that instills in Armenian readers the national values.
The sections Greek-Armenian Life, Armenia-Artsakh and Turkey-Azerbaijan clearly show the positions of Armenians who have been living and creating in Greece since ancient times and their interests in the Homeland, the Armenian identity and the Armenian Cause.
The editorial staff of skilled editors and its gifted editor not only follow up on interesting events taking place in the community in order to update the above mentioned sections every day, but also follow up on events taking place in Armenia and Artsakh and provide readers with balanced information, refraining from extreme evaluations.
Since the very first day of existence of the RA Ministry of Diaspora, Azad Or has been the ministry’s loyal partner, as well as the precise and impartial commentator presenting the activities of the Ministry of Diaspora to our community and the Armenian Diaspora in general.
Azad Or raises awareness about several programs and makes its great contributions to the RA Ministry of Diaspora by presenting the programs that promote the Homeland-Diaspora partnership.
The newspaper serves as one of the unique “cradles” for the preservation and reproduction of the Western Armenian language, providing the opportunity to enjoy reading the news in the pure Western Armenian language.
On the one hand, 70 years are an instant in the centuries-old history of the Armenian people. On the other hand, words can’t describe how long it is for the preservation of the identity of Armenians in the Greek-Armenian community.
Thus, I wish the newspaper continues to work hard for decades and centuries with the high level of mastery of journalists, impartiality and dedication, ensuring the continuation of the Homeland-Diaspora rapprochement and the future of the ancient Greek-Armenian community.
Dear friends, I wish you success and more horizons in your career.
SINCERELY,
HRANUSH HAKOBYAN
