Romanian-Armenians and Swiss Ambassador discuss importance of appealing against Dogu Perincek’s case of Armenian Genocide denial

The Armenian National Committee of Romania and Primate of the Armenian Apostolic Church of Romania, Bishop Tatev Hakobyan had a meeting with Swiss Ambassador Jean-Yuber Lebe, reports Asbarez. The purpose of the meeting was to inform the Ambassador about the need for the Swiss government to appeal against the ruling of the European Court of Human Rights in relation to Turkish political figure Dogu Perincek.

The importance of Armenian Genocide recognition and condemnation was discussed once again during the meeting attended by Member of Parliament of Romania Varujan Pambukchyan. The participants of the meeting expressed their protest against the ruling in relation to Perincek’s case and transmitted a letter expressing their concerns, and the Ambassador expressed his concern about the issue.

Let us remind that the European Court of Human Rights has upheld anti-Armenian, Turkish figure Dogu Perincek’s lawsuit against Switzerland’s decision on the basis of freedom of speech. Leadre of Turkey’s Labor Party Dogu Perincek was sentenced in Switzerland for public denial of the Armenian Genocide in 2008.
