RA Chamber of Advocates has developed a plan to provide legal aid to Syrian-Armenians

All measures will be taken to make sure that the Syrian-Armenians stay in Armenia. The two-stage advocacy program of the RA Chamber of Advocates entitled “Legal Aid to Syrian-Armenians” kicked off yesterday.

Syrian-Armenians will be provided with free legal consulting at the Chamber of Advocates (3 Zakyan Street) for five days a week and two consecutive months in the first stage, after which the issues concerning Syrian-Armenians in relation to RA legislation will be summed up and a free handbook (Eastern Armenian and Western Armenian) will be provided to the Syrian-Armenians in the second stage. This is what Advisor to the President of the Chamber of Advocates Zinavor Meghryan said during a press conference yesterday.

“If everything goes according to plan, the Syrian-Armenians will also be provided with free help from advocates,” the program’s correspondent said.

Prior to the launch of the program, Zinavor Meghryan had already met with nearly 30 Syrian-Armenian families to clarify the issues that require speedy solutions.

“There is a broad range of issues, starting from documentation of real estate leasing and ending with driving licenses. I’m certain that the advocates will identify more and more issues concerning the Syrian-Armenians,” Meghryan emphasized.

In response to the observation that many issues in Armenia are solved illegitimately and that knowing the law isn’t always helpful, Meghryan noted that the Syrian-Armenians have introduced a nice tradition and they don’t accept illegitimate solutions to issues. As for the incident in relation to the son of the owner of Manand Taxi Service and the Syrian-Armenians selling car parts, the Advisor to the President of the Chamber of Advocates urged not to jump to conclusions in order not to impede the investigation and assured that the Chamber of Advocates is ready to protect the Syrian-Armenians’ interests in this case as well.
