Arayik Harutyunyan: “The Armenian language is the state language of the Republic of Armenia”

The Armenian language is the state language of the Republic of Armenia.

Sub-point “b” of Article 4 of the Law of the Republic of Armenia “On language” prescribes that state bodies, enterprises, institutions and organizations of the Republic of Armenia shall be obliged “to ensure simultaneous translation of statements in other languages into Armenian at congresses, sessions, meetings, symposia, during public lectures, official and other mass events”.

I call on respected economic entities, owners of hotels and companies allocating premises for lease to warn every organizer about possible violation of this Law and about mandatory simultaneous translation. Circulars regarding this will be forwarded soon.

In the near future, we will undertake an initiative to make sure those economic entities — event organizers — violating this sub-point of the Law are strictly fined for violating this provision.
