Women of Turkey’s only Armenian village to participate in culinary courses

With the support of the Turkish Ministry of Tourism, Turkey’s bordering city of Hatay is offering culinary courses under the title “Tastes from History”.

The 550-hour courses will gather 28 women from the Armenian Vakifli village located in the Samandagh district of Hatay. As a matter of fact, Vakifli is the only Armenian village in Turkey.

During the courses, the Armenian women will be making the traditional Armenian dolma and several other dishes.

The Foundation of the local Armenian Orthodox Church has expressed its support to the initiative. According to President of the Foundation Cem Capar, the Armenian Church has received 198,000 Turkish lira (approximately $42,000) for implementation of this project.
