On May 25, RA Minister of Diaspora Mkhitar Hayrapetyan received Noubar Yaghoubian, head of the Armenian community of Oakland, New Zealand.
The Minister attached importance to cooperation with all large and small communities of the Armenian Diaspora. “There are no small communities for the Ministry of Diaspora. The Ministry attaches importance to the presence and participation of each and every community. The Ministry of Diaspora is everyone’s ministry. Within you we see partners, and we can’t imagine our work without you,” the Minister added.
Head of the Armenian community of New Zealand Noubar Yaghoubian expressed gratitude for the meeting and presented the community’s problems, achievements and future actions. He stated that even though the Armenian community of New Zealand is small and consists of only 100 families, it is organized and enterprising. Last year, the community opened a school. The members of the community are concerned about preservation of the Armenian identity, language, culture and national traditions and would be glad to further strengthen their bonds with the Ministry of Diaspora.
