Armenians in the Diaspora are planning a number of events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Republic of Armenia. This is what Editor-in-Chief of Aztag Armenian Daily Shahan Kandaharian said during a press conference hosted by Armenpress.
According to him, a couple of months ago, several Armenian communities of the Diaspora set up committees that consist of members of political parties, as well as unions, societies and associations. “I think the 100th anniversary should not just be celebrated throughout May or throughout this year. It is necessary to continue discussions on archival documents, including academic and political documents,” he said.
Kandaharian stated that the 9th Pan-Armenian Forum of Journalists is set to kick off on 30 May as part of the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Republic of Armenia. “The main theme of the forum will be Armenian statehood. The forum will gather representatives of various mass media outlets of the Armenian Diaspora. The forum will be held at the initiative of the Ministry of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia,” Kandaharian emphasized, adding that the participants of the forum will reflect on the newspapers published in the period of the First Republic and Armenian statehood. Diaspora Armenian journalists will have meetings with the heads of Armenian government agencies.
