Pan-Armenian flashmob: Armenian victorious Qochari dance will consolidate Armenians

The year 2018 is a year of anniversaries for Armenia since all Armenians will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of the First Republic of Armenia and the May Heroic Battles and the 2,800th anniversary of the foundation of Yerevan. Diaspora Armenians will also be celebrating these anniversaries. For instance, on 26 May, the Armenian Cultural Center of the French city of Grenoble will launch a large-scale initiative, that is, the “Come, Dance the Qochari” pan-Armenian flashmob that is open to individuals, groups and ensembles, dance ensembles, cultural centers, as well as schools and military units.

The idea is to have Armenians of the world dance the Armenian Qochari dance in their cities of residence, videotape the dance and sent the videos to the event organizers. Later, the complete video will be posted on the official Facebook page of the flashmob.

As reported member of the board of trustees of the Armenian Cultural Center of Grenoble and author of the initiative Siranush Khachatryan to Hayern Aysor, the goal is to consolidate all Armenians of Armenia and the Diaspora around the idea of dancing the victorious Armenian Qochari dance as a sign of our heroic past and national unity.

The Ministry of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia and the Consulate of Lyon support the initiative of the Armenians of Grenoble.

Let us add that a website has been launched, Facebook and Twitter pages have been created and an advertisement has been prepared to make the project more popular.
