Lyon Mayor Georges Képénékian-led delegation to visit Armenia

From March 3 to 7, the delegation led by Mayor of Lyon Georges Képénékian will be on a visit to Armenia, reported Lyonmag.com, highlighting the fact that Képénékian’s visit will by no means lay the foundation for cooperation between Yerevan and Lyon since the foundation for cooperation was laid back in 1992.
During the visit, the representatives of Yerevan and Lyon will discuss the plan for cooperation until 2020.
The plan envisages deepening of cooperation in the areas of local self-governance, implementation of urban development projects, socio-economic development, promotion of cooperation of educational institutions and culture.
Georges Képénékian was elected mayor of France’s third major city in July 2017, replacing Gerard Colom, who was elected Minister of Internal Affairs by the new cabinet and had nominated Képénékian. It is known that Képénékian had been the First Deputy Mayor of Lyon for Culture and Major Events since 2014.
The Armenian political figure was born on August 9, 1949. He is an urologist/surgeon, an active member of the Armenian community of France and a board member of the Bouloukian Foundation of Lyon.
