The Embassy of the Republic of Armenia to the Vatican will undertake a new initiative devoted to Gregory of Narek, the 36th Doctor of the Universal Church.
This is what Ambassador of the Armenia to the Holy See Mikael Minasyan posted on his Facebook page.
“The wonderful performance of Alfred Shnitke’s Four-Part Concerto for Mixed Choirs by the famous choir of the Santa Cecilia National Academy of Rome at the Saint Ignatius of Loyola Church in 2016 impressed the attending guests.
The concert was dedicated to declaring Saint Gregory of Narek as Doctor of the Universal Church. The selection of the song was not by chance. In 1984-85, Alfred Shnitke created the four-part concerto based on the third chapter of Gregory of Narek’s “Book of Tragedies”.
That same evening, under the impression of the indescribable energy at the concert, the team at the Embassy of Armenia to the Holy See decided to undertake a new initiative devoted to the 36th Doctor of the Universal Church. Now it will be the turn of the masters of thinking and sculpting…”Ambassador Minasyan stated.
