Business Insider has covered Christmas dishes in 20 countries and has also presented the Armenian traditional Ghapama (stuffed pumpkin dish).
“We have been serving the Ghapama on Christmas for centuries. Christmas is a special holiday. It is the only day when we prepare Ghapama. We stuff the pumpkin with rice with raisins and honey and serve it with turkey,” Armenia’s representative told Business Insider.
Ghapama is an Armenian traditional dish that is more often prepared for the New Year and Easter. It is a pumpkin stuffed with rice, dried fruits, raisins and walnuts. Ghapama would also be prepared during friendly gatherings.
