SOAD statue to be placed underneath Lake Sevan

The passing year was a busy year for sculptor Hayk Tokmajian. In an interview with Panorama.am, the sculptor recapped the year and talked about his expectations from the coming year.

Hayk Tokmajian has been working on a new project for more than a year. He intends to lower the work into Lake Sevan. Assembling such a large structure under the water is a huge technical challenge that requires much time and financial resources with remaining certain issues to be solved.

“I think we will manage to complete the work this year to attract the flow of tourists from around the world. Do you remember the latest concert by the rock band at Republic Square in Yerevan? This will spark many reactions,” he said.

Tokmajian stated that he has other interesting thoughts and ideas. For instance, he plans to create a place designed for fish farming that will be plastic and externally interesting. There is also an idea linked to the Mamikonyants clan. The whole, collective image of this clan will be shaped and placed at Mamikonyants Street. In 2018, the sculptor is also invited to several symposiums. In February, he is invited to Egypt. He also has many plans that are in progress and is waiting for them to be implemented and specified.
