German organization demands erecting Armenian Genocide monuments in German cities
The Germany-based Endangered Nations law-defense organization demands erecting monuments dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide and other Christian minorities in German cities.
As reported Deutsche Welle’s Turkish service, the law-defense organization has submitted a petition to the German Association of Towns and Municipalities, and the petition has been transferred to President of the Association Eva Lohse.
Representative of the Endangered Nations organization Kemal Sido stated that Germany was aware of the massacres that were being perpetrated in the Ottoman Empire.
“This is why it is very important to exert efforts so that we don’t let the Armenians and representatives of other devastated nations living here forget what happened and allocate a site where they can pay tribute to the victims.”
The organization’s statement states that besides the Armenian Genocide, the Ottoman Empire also perpetrated the massacres of other Christian minorities that took the lives of nearly 1.5 million people, writes Ermenihaber.am.
