RA Minister of Defense visits Prelacy of U.S. Western Diocese of the Armenian Church

On the evening of November 13, during the visit to the United States, the delegation led by Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Vigen Sargsyan was hosted at the Prelacy of the U.S. Western Diocese of the Armenian Church.
As reported the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia to Hayern Aysor, after the meeting with the leaders of Armenian organizations and community figures, Vigen Sargsyan touched upon the plans for modernization of the Armenian army in his extensive speech addressed to several representatives of the community. The Minister of Defense particularly talked about raising the level of combat readiness of the army and making military service more attractive, the development of military production, the changes in military education programs in terms of content, the need for the formation of a knowledge-based army and several other issues. Vigen Sargsyan provided details about the activities being carried out on the frontline and the priorities for the obtainment of new types of arms in the context of smart armament, the large-scale social programs under implementation within the armed forces and told the attendees about the perspectives of the creation of a new, state-of-the-art military hospital and the Rehabilitative Center for Disabled Military Servicemen to be opened in a couple of weeks.
The Minister of Defense also talked about the transfer of Monte Melkonian Military Athletic School to Dilijan and assured that the military educational institution is becoming the best high school in Armenia, which is the first step on the path for drastic modernization of the entire system of military education.
After his speech, Vigen Sargsyan answered questions from the participants of the event.
