“Armenia and Iran: Memory of the Land” exhibition opens in Iran

On October 17, Tehran hosted the solemn opening ceremony of the joint exhibition of the History Museum of Armenia and the National Museum of Iran under the title “Armenia and Iran: Memory of the Land”. At the invitation of Vice-President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ali Asghar Mounesan, RA Minister of Culture Armen Amiryan had arrived in Iran to participate in the opening ceremony.

As reported the Department of Press, Information and Public Relations at the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Hayern Aysor, the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in the Islamic Republic of Iran played a major role in initiating, preparing for and organizing the joint exhibition along with other state institutions.

The History Museum of Armenia displayed 103 exclusive and historically and culturally valuable samples from the pre-Urartu, Urartu and post-Urartu eras. Among the participants of the solemn opening ceremony at the National Museum of Iran were RA Minister of Culture Armen Amiryan; RA Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Islamic Republic of Iran Artashes Tumanyan; Director of the History Museum of Armenia Grigor Grigoryan; Vice-President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Head of the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization Ali Asghar Mounesan; Deputy Head of the Organization Mohammad Hassan Talebian; Director of the National Museum of Iran Jebrael Nokandeh and several other officials; the ambassadors of several countries, representatives of international organizations; Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Tehran, His Grace, Archbishop Sepuh Sarkisian; holy fathers; members of the Iranian-Armenian community and representatives of cultural institutions and non-governmental organizations.

Within the framework of the visit to Iran, Minister Armen Amiryan had meetings with Vice-President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Head of the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization Ali Asghar Mounesan and Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyyed Abbas Salehi.

During the meetings, Minister Amiryan made several proposals that were related to cinematography, publishing, the performing arts, museums and other cultural sectors.
