Armenian School of Kuwait and “Shirakatsi Lyceum” to implement joint programs

The “Shirakatsi Lyceum” International Scientific-Educational Complex and the Armenian School of Kuwait concluded today a memorandum of cooperation at the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia. The memorandum was signed by the directors of “Shirakatsi Lyceum” International Scientific-Educational Complex and the Armenian School of Kuwait Ashot Alikhanyan and Nerses Sarkisian. As reported the RA Ministry of Education and Science to Hayern Aysor, through the memorandum of cooperation, “Shirakatsi Lyceum” has expressed willingness to assist the Armenian School of Kuwait in developing alternative general education programs in line with the state general education criterion approved by the Government of the Republic of Armenia and in line with the requirements of the criteria of the International Undergraduate Education Program.

Welcoming the initiative, RA Deputy Minister of Education and Science Manuk Mkrtchyan noted that an Armenian school abroad sets an example when it tries to apply the educational programs of Armenia. “Many of the educational institutions in Armenia, including “Shirakatsi Lyceum” have interesting ideas, but we have always had a problem with spreading the word about the achievements made in Armenia within the country and abroad, even in schools where Armenian educational programs are being carried out. I hope this initiative sets an example for our other top schools to collaborate with foreign educational institutions and exchange their experiences,” the Deputy Minister noted.

According to Director of the Armenian School of Kuwait Nerses Sarkisian, the School, which was established in 1960, has made great contributions by providing generations of Diaspora Armenians with an Armenian upbringing and preparing them to get accepted to universities. “Today, Armenian educational institutions of the Diaspora are facing many difficulties, the major one of which is the imperative to meet the educational criteria. Consequently, it is our duty to take this step in order to provide the generations with an Armenian upbringing. We are very interested in the experience of the International Undergraduate Program of “Shirakatsi Lyceum” and its application in our school. It will require a lot of preparations, including compliance with educational materials, staff training and more,” Nerses Sarkisian noted and expressed gratitude to the RA Ministry of Education and Science and “Shirakatsi Lyceum” for their support.

In his turn, Director of “Shirakatsi Lyceum” Ashot Alikhanyan noted that the spirit of the nation has lied at the core of the Lyceum’s educational programs since the establishment of the Lyceum. “We have set the goals to make sure the Lyceum becomes an educational institution that educates universal values and becomes a pan-Armenian educational center. We have already achieved the first goal and are continuing to move forward, and today we laid the foundation to accomplish the second goal with the hope that we set an example for other schools,” Ashot Alikhanyan said, assuring that the first results of the cooperation will be seen soon.

By the memorandum, the parties will cooperate to organize interesting educational and advisory programs of mutual interest, including exchanges of teachers and pupils, online Olympiads, summer camps, consultations over science and education, as well as the exchange of professional books, methodological manuals, books, periodicals and other materials. In addition, the parties will also collaborate to form joint task forces and consider and solve issues of mutual interest, publish relevant materials related to the parties’ activities, exchange information about the results of the joint efforts and the impeding factors and in other directions.
