Iran’s spiritual leader confirms Hassan Rouhani as President of Iran

Iran’s leader and spiritual leader Ayatollah Ali Khomeini has confirmed Hassan Rouhani in the position of President of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Rouhani was sworn in during the August 3 solemn ceremony at Imam Khomeini Mosque in Tehran, reported Press TV.
Among the attendees of the ceremony were representatives of the higher bodies of government, Deputies of the Mejlis (Parliament), members of the Observation and Conciliation Councils of Iran, representatives of the highest military command, as well as the leaders of foreign diplomatic representations. In accordance with the country’s Constitution, the four-year presidential term of Rouhani shall start from that moment. On August 5, the President-elect will be sworn in at the Melis. The ceremony will gather over 100 foreign delegations, which is a record-setting number for such an event in Iran.
Rouhani, 68, was reelected for a second term based on the results of the May 19 presidential elections, garnering 23.5 million votes (57% of voters), reported TASS, according to Artsakhpress.
