RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan received Iranian film director and screenwriter Behrouz Afkhami, screenwriter Kourosh Salimzadeh, as well as Iranian-Armenian writer and translator Andranik Khechoumian and writer Ashot Aghababyan.

Cordially greeting the guests, the Minister highly appreciated the Iranian-Armenian friendship, stating that the two nations have many things in common in terms of culture and that the Iranian filmmaker’s new film devoted to Armenia is another manifestation of mutual understanding and familiarity. The Minister attached special importance to Behrouz Afkhami’s plan to shoot a multi-series film based on Ashot Aghababyan’s book “The Resident” in Armenia. The Minister added that implementation of this project will show once again the cultural familiarity between the Iranians and Armenians, while the enigmatic and highly dramatic story of the book’s main character (worthy son of the Armenian nation, Major General for State Security, Doctor of Chemical Sciences, Head of the USSR Atomic Intelligence Haik Hovakimyan) will spark great interest in the whole world, especially in countries where there are Armenian communities.

The Minister expressed confidence that the creation of these films will become a new start to deeply know each other. She also touched upon the Armenian community of Iran and stated that the community serves as a reliable bridge between the two neighboring countries.
