On July 5, the Manuel Belgrano Hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Argentina in Buenos Aires hosted an event dedicated to the 25^th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Argentina, reported the press service of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Hayern Aysor.

There were nearly 300 guests, including high-ranking Argentine government officials, heads of diplomatic missions, parliamentarians and influential members of the Armenian community.

In his opening remarks Deputy Secretary for Foreign Relations of Argentina Gustavo Slauvinen congratulated the two countries on the 25^th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and affirmed Argentina’s commitment to continue to make efforts for the strengthening and affirmative development of the friendly relations.

Gustavo Slauvinen particularly mentioned the significant contributions that the Armenians of Argentina have made to the development of the country’s economy and other sectors after settling in the country over a century ago.

In her speech, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Argentina Estera Mkrtumyan touched upon the establishment of Armenian statehood and the strong friendship between the Armenian and Argentine nations.

Briefly recapping the past 25 years of relations between the two countries, Ambassador Mkrtumyan presented the potential spheres for mutually beneficial cooperation in the future, including industry, agriculture, information and high technologies, healthcare and other sectors. Mkrtumyan also emphasized that Armenia, being a member of the Eurasian Economic Union, could serve as a gateway for Argentina to enter the market of more than 180,000,000 consumers.

Levon Carlos Arslanian spoke on behalf of the Armenian community of Argentina and provided details about the history of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The event featured performances by renowned Argentine bandoneon player Rodolfo Medeiros and violinist Rafael Jintoli; Armenian singers Alla Avetisian and Valeria Cherekian, as well as Gaiane Armenian Dance Group. The performances were followed by the screening of a short film devoted to the establishment of diplomatic relations between Argentina and Armenia and the Armenian community of Argentina.

The event was followed by a reception hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Argentina.
