Istanbul-Armenian photographer Ara Güler receives Honorary Award at 22nd Turkey-Germany Film Festival

World famous Istanbul-Armenian photographer Ara Güler received the Honorary Award of the 22nd Turkey-Germany Film Festival from the Turkish side in Nuremberg. Famous German film director Jürgen Jürges received the award from the German side.

According to the Turkish Karar.com, Mayor of Nuremberg Ulrich Mali granted the award to Güler.

Talking about the art of photography on stage, Güler said taking photos is not just the act of taking photos. According to him, a photo must describe an event and convey a message.

Güler’s speech was followed by the screening of the documentary film “The Eye of Istanbul”, which is devoted to the life and career of the world famous photographer. The words of Nobel Prize-winning Turkish writer Orhan Pamuk and Yaşar Kemal about Ara Güler also appeared on the big screen.
