RA Defense Ministry releases book presenting biographies of Artsakh war victims buried at Yerablour Military Pantheon

The battle for the existence of Artsakh is the most precious achievement in the modern history of the Armenian people. It was an unprecedented manifestation of pan-national unity, faith and the reestablishment of historical justice.
The independence of Artsakh is truly an irreversible pan-national victory that was achieved at the expense of the lives of thousands of brave Armenians.
The book “Memoir for Commemoration” is about the lives and endeavors of those heroes and serves as a unique chronology of the liberation of Artsakh, reported the Department of Information and Public Relations of the RA Ministry of Defense.
The book was published through the efforts and research of the RA Ministry of Defense and the creative committee. The Ministry and the creative committee examined the books and newspapers devoted to the Artsakh war and published in the previous years, as well as the archives of Yerablour Military Pantheon-Memorial Complex of the RA Ministry of Defense, the “Mother Armenia” Museum of Military History and the board of the Union of Volunteer Land Defenders. The information obtained during the meetings with the families of deceased soldiers and freedom fighters and the memories helped enrich the book and make it integrated as much as possible.
The book includes the biographies of 559 soldiers who were buried at Yerablour Military Pantheon-Memorial Complex from the first days of the Artsakh war until the ceasefire signed in 1994.
The life stories presented in the book for the current and future generations serve as a compact and special book of lessons on showing love for and defending the country, as well as learning from the martyrs.
The book was published with the support of Diaspora Armenian benefactor Michael Korougian, the heads of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia and the Faculty of History at Yerevan State University, Union of Volunteer Land Defenders and the commanders of the voluntary detachments, as well as the families of deceased soldiers and friends-in-combat.
The presentation of the book “Memoir for Commemoration”, which is dedicated to the Armenians who are buried at Yerablour Military Pantheon, was held during a reception dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the formation of the Armenian Army at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin on January 29th. Among the guests was the book’s sponsor, Diaspora Armenian benefactor Michael Korougian. During the event, RA Minister of Defense Vigen Sargsyan awarded the benefactor with the Garegin Nzhdeh Medal of the RA Ministry of Defense for his great personal contribution to the valuable book.
