2017 is a year of anniversaries for the Armenian community of Poland

On January 13, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Poland Edgar Ghazaryan paid a working visit to the Skirnevitse community in the Lodz region of Poland to participate in the events dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the community. Ambassador Ghazaryan participated in the special session of the community council convened on the occasion and delivered a speech, reported the press service of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Hayern Aysor.

In his speech, Ambassador Ghazaryan expressed gratitude to the authorities of the Skirnevitse community for the fruitful cooperation that helped make it possible to organize the Days of Armenia events and the Culture and Arts of Armenia painting competition in March 2016, providing students and teachers of the Glukhov Regional College with the opportunity to visit Armenia and be hosted by the regional college in the Vayots Dzor Province of the Republic of Armenia.

Ambassador Ghazaryan also stated that the year 2017 is a year of an anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Poland and Armenia and the establishment of the Armenian community of Poland and invited the attendees to participate in the events organized by the Armenian embassy and partnering organizations.

On the same day, on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the Armenian community of Poland, the community council of Skirnevitse awarded RA Ambassador to Poland Edgar Ghazaryan with the “For Merit” nominal medal, which was handed over to him by head (starosta) of the Skirnevitse community Miroslav Belina and chairman of the community council Teresa Jedrasek.

Reference: The “For Merit” Medal is one of the highest awards of the Skirnevitse community. It has been awarded to President of the Republic of Poland Anjey Duda, Deputy of the Seym of the Republic of Poland Dorota Rutkovska, the current and former leaders and members of the community council and several other activists who have played a significant role in community life.
