Siran Misagian-Basmajian: “I am doing it for God and the sons of my nation, I am a mother, an Armenian woman, and all those soldiers are also my sons”

On January 10, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan received repatriate Siran Misagian-Basmajian, who had brought with her another load of goods as charity for Armenian soldiers. This time she has brought packages of clothes for the military hospital in Jebrayil and the decorated sculpture of the Holy Virgin that she requested and which will be placed in the chapel near the hospital.

Greeting Siran Misagian-Basmajian, the Minister of Diaspora attached importance to her participation in the “What are YOU doing for Karabakh?” pan-Armenian movement, her support to the Armenian army and particularly mentioned the following: “I am glad to see you again, Mrs. Basmajian. I am grateful to you. You are a heroic woman. I am certain that the Armenian public will love the army with such generosity as you love the army, dear Siran.”

Providing assistance to the soldiers defending the borders of the Homeland is a manifestation of maternal generosity for 80-year-old Siran. “Armenia is our Homeland, and it is the duty of all Armenians to do everything possible to help our country develop. However, first and foremost, we must make our army strong. I think the army has to be stronger than us, and we need to do everything we can to help Armenian soldiers. I am doing it for God and the sons of my nation. I am a mother, an Armenian woman, and all those soldiers are also my sons,” she said. Siran Misagian-Basmajian moved from Marseille to Armenia 16 years ago and settled in the Jrashen village of Armavir Province. She has 6 sons, 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. In 1966, Siran’s family moved from Beirut to France. After settling in Jrashen village, she started cultivating the gardens adjacent to her house.
