Repatriate pensioner Siran Misagian-Basmadjian participating in the “What are YOU doing for Karabakh?” pan-Armenian movement
On November 22, RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan received repatriate Siran Misagian-Basmadjian.
Siran, 80, moved from Marseille to Armenia and settled in the Jrashen village of Armavir Province sixteen years ago. She has six sons, fifteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In 1966, Siran’s family moved from Beirut to France. After settling in the Jrashen village, she started cultivating her gardens located near her house.
The Minister praised the assistance that Siran Misagian-Basmadjian has been providing to the Armenian army since the outbreak of the war in Artsakh in April.
The Minister attached importance to Mrs. Basmadjian’s patriotic activities and stated the following: “For months, you have been sending packages o clothes to the bordering military units. Just recently, you purchased products worth 500,000 drams to send to the Armenian army, but you don’t like to talk about your charities. You also attach importance to the quality of the clothes that are being sent and you do everything to make sure our soldiers only receive high-quality clothes. I am certain that the Armenian society must love the army as generously as you, dear Mrs. Basmadjian.”
Minister Hranush Hakobyan awarded Mrs. Basmadjian with a certificate of the RA Ministry of Diaspora as a token of high appreciation of her active participation in the “What are YOU doing for Karabakh” pan-Armenian movement and her ongoing assistance to the Armenian soldiers defending the borders.
Mrs. Basmadjian expressed gratitude for the cordial reception and mentioned the following: “Armenia is our Homeland, and it is our duty to do everything we can to help our country grow. However, first of all, we need to empower our army. I think the army must be stronger than us, and we need to do everything we can to help Armenian soldiers.”
Siran Misagian-Basmadjian has also supported many other needy families addressing her with the request for help. Currently, she is also preparing packages for soldiers and will be sending them to the Armenian soldiers serving at bordering military units.
