Poland’s Kurow hosts events dedicated to the memory of notable Polish-Armenian figure Gzhegozh Piramovich

On November 14, the Polish city of Kurow hosted events dedicated to the 215th death anniversary of former Minister of Education of Poland, poet, clergyman, knight of the White Eagle Order (the highest order of Poland) Gzhegozh Piramovich (Pirumyan), who was of Armenian descent and one of the notable figures in the history of Poland, as reported the press service of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Gzhegozh Piramovich was also one of the co-authors of the text of the first Constitution of Poland.

RA Ambassador to Poland Edgar Ghazaryan, who is in Kurow to participate in the events, as well as vuyt (head of community) of Kurow Stanislav Voychikh, other representatives of the local authorities and several intellectuals of the city, participated in the Holy Mass served in memory of Gzhegozh Piramovich. In his speech addressed to the gathered, the Ambassador stated that he feels proud to know about the outstanding and exceptional role that notable Armenian figures have played in the history of Poland, among whom is state, public and religious figure Gzhegozh Piramovich.

Afterwards, Ambassador Ghazaryan and vuyt of Kurow Stanislav Volchikh laid flowers near the plaques placed in memory of Gzhegozh Piramovich and his mother in the churchyard and paid their respects to their memory.

The RA Ambassador, with the accompaniment of the vuyt of Kurow, visited the city’s museum where the exhibited samples were mainly devoted to the life and career of Gzhegozh Piramovich.
