Yerevan’s Arno Babajanyan Concert Hall to host photo exhibition

On November 24 at 17:00, contemporary Istanbul-Armenian photographer Nourhan Akkaya will hold his personal exhibition entitled “The Armenians in Turkey” in the vestibule of the Arno Babajanyan Concert Hall (2nd floor) with the support of the RA Ministry of Diaspora.
According to Hayern Aysor, the exhibition will showcase works from Nourhan Akkaya’s “Armenians” documental album, which presents the photos that Akkaya has taken over the past six years. The photos mainly portray Turkish-Armenians, the portraits of representatives of different layers, traces of Constantinople and Anatolia, the Holy Cross Church on Akhtamar Island of Van and the last Armenian Vakifli village of Musa Dagh, as well as Kars and Kesaria. The event will also feature the presentation of the album “Armenians”.
The exhibition is organized by the RA Ministry of Diaspora, in association with Istanbul-Armenian journalist Sevan Ataoglu. It is sponsored by the First Mortgage Company.
The exhibition will run until November 27, 2016.
Nourhan Akkaya was born in 1972 in Constantinople. He started showing interest in photography in 1984. During his school years, he would participate in group exhibitions. In 1992, the photographer graduated from the Department of Crafts of Biomedical Instruments at Marmara University. In 2006 and 2008, he and Haluk Copanoglu participated in the “Documental Photo” workshop. Currently, Nouran Akkaya serves as director of the technical maintenance division for a French medical institution.
