Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received Vice-President of the International Association of Athletics Federations, legendary athlete Sergey Bubka. The head of government welcomed the well-known athlete’s visit to Armenia and voiced hope that the visit will contribute to the development and popularization of athletics and sports in general in Armenia. “In our prime, we would take pride in and would be highly motivated by your successes. We’re pleased with the fact that you have established cordial ties with the Armenian Athletics Federation and have undertaken new programs. The Government of Armenia will continue to take more measures to popularize sports,” Tigran Sargsyan said.

Sergey Bubka expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for showing great support to the development of sports. “It’s a great honor for me to be received like this. I have had meetings with RA President Serzh Sargsyan and the RA Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs. The fact that legendary athletes like Yuri Vardanyan and Robert Emmiyan are in charge of the field of sports is important. I’m pleased to see how Armenia is reestablishing the great traditions of sports,” Sergey Bubka mentioned.

It was informed that a modern athletics racecourse will be installed at Hrazdan Stadium in Yerevan with the support of the International Athletics Federation, allowing the holding of international competitions at the highest level.

Sergey Bubka also expressed gratitude for the holding of the final year-end event at a high level in Yerevan on October 27-30, recapping the results of the athletes of Federations that are members of the Association in the Balkans.
