Vigen Sargsyan appointed RA Minister of Defense

On October 3, President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan signed a number of decrees and finally formed the new government of the Republic of Armenia.

Vigen Sargsyan has been appointed the new Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia and will be replacing Seyran Ohanyan.

Vigen Sargsyan had been holding the position of Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic of Armenia since 2011. Between 1995 and 1998, he has served as assistant and later advisor to the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia. Between 2000 and 2003, he has served in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia and has been the Aide to the RA Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia. Between 2003 and 2009, he has been an Assistant to the President of the Republic of Armenia. Between 2009 and 2001, he has been Deputy Chief of Staff to the President of the Republic of Armenia.

Yuri Khachaturov has been appointed Secretary of the National Security Council, being relieved of his position as Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia.

Movses Hakobyan has been appointed Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia.

Armen Gevorgyan has been appointed Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic of Armenia.
