Pope Francis expressed hope in Baku that the international community will assist the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Azerbaijani Trend agency reported.

“I would like to express my sincerest support to the people who suffer as result of bloody conflicts. I hope, that the international community will be able to provide necessary assistance”, Pope Francis said, urging the sides to use every opportunity which may lead to the resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

“I am sure, that with God’s help and the goodwill of the sides involved, Caucasus will become a place where disputes and disagreements will be overcome through dialogue and negotiations”, he said. The Pope noted with regret, that currently there are many conflicts in the world, which are incited by ideology of violence and denial of rights of the weakest.
