Event dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Armenia’s Independence held in Mexico

On September 26, the Museum of Mexico hosted an event dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Armenia, as reported the press service of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Among the attendees of the ceremony were several representatives of different religious denominations in Mexico, the Senate and Chamber of Deputies, government officials, members of the government of Mexico City, as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps, public and political figures and several members of the local Armenian community.

In his speech at the official reception, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Mexico Ara Ayvazyan recapped the history of the Armenian people before gaining independence and the achievements that have been made over the past 25 years of nation-building. The Ambassador touched upon the major role that Armenia has played in human rights protection and in the international recognition and condemnation of genocides in the international arena. Attaching great importance to the development of interstate relations with Mexico, which is one of the leading countries of Latin America, Ambassaor Ayvazyan expressed confidence that the future joint efforts would give a new impetus to the mutually beneficial cooperation.

The event featured performances of Armenian classical music by the string quintet comprised of Armenian and Mexican musicians.
