Diasporan Armenian pianist Mikael Ayrapetyan gives solo concert

On August 3, with the support of the Ministry of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia, creator and artistic director of the Secrets of Armenia musical project Mikael Ayrapetyan gave a solo concert at Cafesjian Center for the Arts. Among the participants were RA Deputy Minister of Diaspora Serzh Srapionyan, employees of the RA Ministry of Diaspora, artists and guests.

Mikael Ayrapetyan stunned the audience with his virtuoso performances of the works of Armenian composer Haro Stepanyan, which he was performing for the first time ever.

Ayrapetyan performed Haro Stepanyan’s children’s songs composed with national motives and 26 preludes for the piano.

At the end, RA Deputy Minister of Diaspora Serzh Srapionyan gave a speech in which, on behalf of RA Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan, he expressed gratitude to the talented pianist for presenting the pearls of Armenian classical music and making Armenian culture recognized in the world. “We thank you for performing the works of Armenian composers who haven’t been very famous to this day. Today was a world premiere since the works of Haro Stepanyan were presented for the first time. We wish you more success and premieres. Thank you for granting us wonderful moments,” Srapionyan said.

Mikael Ayrapetyan graduated from Moscow Tchaikovsky State Conservatory and is currently studying to obtain his PhD from the Conservatory. He conveys new life to the works of Armenian composers that have been unfairly forgotten and carries out the pro-national task of drawing the public’s attention to Armenian classical music.

Mikael Ayrapetyan is an internationally recognized artist of Naxos, and his Armenian classical music albums have been covered by the world’s top music magazines, including FANFARE, International Piano, American Record Guide and Music Web International.
