Armenian Black Belt Association’s kung-fu team returns from European Kung-Fu Open Championship with 5 gold medals and 1 silver medal

On October 15, the kung-fu team of the Armenian Black Belt Association returned to Yerevan from the European Kung-Fu Open Championship held in Yalta. As the Association’s president Armen Harutyunyan mentioned, “the championship was held in the styles of “taulu” (showing of complex drills), “tuyshou” (solo of tae chi chuan martial art) and “sanda” (full-contact duel). The championship brought together 35 teams from six countries. The nine Armenian athletes scored 5 gold medals and one silver medal in the “sanda” style, winning 3rd place.”

The Association’s senior coach Sargis Harutyunyan mentioned that the team was participating in such a high-class championship for the first time and is impressed by the athletes’ high level of mastery. The team’s coaches mentioned that they consider Henrik Azatyan the hero of the day. Henrik was in a class higher than his age group, crushed his Azerbaijani opponent in the final round and won first place.
