On October 14, a festive event dedicated to the 22^nd anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Armenia and the 110^th anniversary of world renowned composer Aram Khachaturian was held at the ceremonies hall of the Royal Academy of Medicine in Madrid. The event was attended by high-ranking officials representing the legislative and executive powers of the Kingdom of Spain, Spanish diplomats, foreign ambassadors, members of political parties, businesspeople, as well as representatives of community structures and non-governmental organizations.

RA Charge d’Affaires in Spain Khoren Terteryan’s opening remarks were followed by a classical music concert with performances of the works of Aram Khachaturian, Komitas and Ferenz Liszt by recipient of international awards, pianist Sofia Melikyan, violinist for the Symphony Orchestra of Spain’s Radio and Television Levon Melikyan and soloist for the same orchestra Gustavo Duarte.

The event ended with an official reception of Armenian dishes, reports the RA MFA press office.
